About me.

“Who controls the past controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.” George Orwell

My name is Kerry.

I am a recent graduate with a first class degree in history and have been transfixed by the discipline ever since my first visit to Hever Castle at the tender age of seven.

Having previously worked for the National Trust at Ham House, I am currently working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at a South London school in what is a rather belated Β (and well needed) post-graduate gap year. In line with my passion for the subject of history and in pursuit of my long-term ambition, in September I will be returning to university at the Institute of Education to study for my PGCE.

This blog is an outlet for my musings upon history, heritage and education. Though be warned all ye who enter here, I have a little bit of an early modern bias.

  1. Haha I sympathise entirely, I turned down the chance to go to Oxford. Whoops πŸ˜›

I look forward to reading your blog, as a history graduate myself (working in a donut shop- rock on!!) I do wish you well! If I can offer any advice it would be: keep writing! Once you get out of the habit of historical thought it’s hard to get it back. I went for a history related job recently and had been so far out of the habit of academic thinking I really struggled.

Also the early modern is the BEST period to be rooted in! πŸ™‚
