Today in 1509 a teenage Prince was crowned King Henry VIII. His new reign was celebrated by the then young lawyer Thomas More as a great spring, washing away the depths of winter that his father’s reign symbolised. By the side of the young King sat the beautiful, twenty-three year old Catharine of Aragon who would remain his wife and queen for the next twenty-four years. How little they all knew of the events that would shape not only Henry’s reign but the future of England itself.
